May sound obvious but there is a term used locally called double dead which is bad meat from the butcher but there is also the fact some of the BBQ stations sit their wares overnight after things not being sold for the next day reheating it. During the day time there is a risk of fly larvae as well as other bacteria getting into tonight’s dinner. In the last year I know of two people getting Amoeba’s and another with a tapeworm.
Generally if eating street food go later on in the evening when food has been well cooked and fresh meats added. Not sure if locals are more immune to things than us but it sometimes feels that way with some of the bugs I have picked up over the years.
Seafood offers up similar issues and learning how to check something is fresh is well worth the time as it will save you having a day on the toilet or worse. Never had anything major happen myself but could be my stomach is a bit more tolerant of bad food as I mainly live on spiced and curried foods.

yes, the nice thing in europe that i really like is that foods like meat even have expiration date… we don’t have that in philippines. no sir!!
I laughed at this when I woke up as it is an important thing that is ignored in the Philippines but when discussing it often people don’t get the importance of it. The difference of tender meat and leather boots i suppose.
